The whole framing of this story has been infuriating. The residents in the area want the Army Corps of Engineers to come in and stop a massive landslide so they can continue living in their multimillion dollar homes. The right solution is to red tag the whole area and tell the residents to move someplace that isn't in imminent danger of sliding into the ocean.

@VATVSLPR their homes should be worthless anyway. The only reason they built there was because it was dirt cheap after the development of the community was halted due to learning this was going to happen back in 1956.
They took the risk, they should have never been insurable. Condemn it all. Don't repair the water and sewer like I've seen in some photos; there's no point. They're wasting everyone's tax dollars.
