I'm evacuating from the #eatonfire, which has blown up quickly. It hadn't even started when I got home from work, but I had to evacuate before bedtime. It's a good reminder to have a plan for what to do in an emergency.

I took a look at some code I wrote a few years ago, and my comments are way better than I expected. Each function has a detailed description of what it does, and it even mentions some simplifying assumptions. The comments within the code are mostly about why things are done the way they are rather than how they're done. Past me wanted to make life easier for current me. #programming

The whole framing of this story has been infuriating. The residents in the area want the Army Corps of Engineers to come in and stop a massive landslide so they can continue living in their multimillion dollar homes. The right solution is to red tag the whole area and tell the residents to move someplace that isn't in imminent danger of sliding into the ocean.

Last night, I dreamed I was visiting a friend who was trying to fix up my grandmother's old house. It was enormous and sprawling but was terribly laid out. The front of the house was laid out like a regular house, but the much larger back was just hallways with alcoves that people were haphazardly using as bedrooms.
