If anybody understands Creative Commons licensing and what I might need/need to do in order to license my artworks correctly, hit me up please

I believe in the open nature of creative expression, but also want to keep “ownership” of my creative works while allowing others to build off that work in the creative ways they find fulfilling

@CherryFlavored Creative Commons doesn't take away your ownership, it is only a license to use your work.

The Creative Commons org's page about their licences gives a pretty good summary, they're really all pretty simple: https://creativecommons.org/share-your-work/cclicenses/

The ones you'll want to avoid are CC0 (not really a CC license proper; puts your work in the public domain, so you effectively lose ownership), and ones with ND, which disallow derivative works ("remixing" in CC terms).

@CherryFlavored I personally avoid the licences with NC (non-commercial) and SA (share-alike) requirements, because I want people to be able to use my CC stuff in commercial projects.

I don't think there's a CC license that requires remixing. Every CC licence allows the use/distribution of your work verbatim. If you want to require remixing/adaptation, you'll probably want to write a custom licence (people technically already have the right to transform your work, but clarifying it helps!)

@CherryFlavored There are no CC licences without the BY (attribution) requirement, any recent CC-licenced work requires the person using your work to credit you. (Except CC0, of course.)

Although that's sensible, I am a bit salty about it (older versions used to have non-BY options) because I don't like forcing people to find ways to credit me in situations where crediting is difficult due to space/time concerns.
