A different kind of #FossilFriday from me today:
A few hundred thousand years ago, hippos, elephants, lions and other large mammals better associated with modern-day Africa used to roam what is now London in the UK. This skeleton is a hippo and shows exactly why you don't want to be near the front end of Africa's most-dangerous-to-humans animal (mosquitoes and other insects excluded).
Taken at the Britain: One Million Years of the Human Story exhibition in the Natural History Museum in 2014.
