Toot

In general, I'm happy with the latest Apple Watch update. But if I don't get back my recent timers I'm going to break something.

@ccgus I think they're at the bottom of the timer list now. Right after 1 HR and 2 HR.

@jackbrewster Holy fuck, this is dumb. And it's sorted by time not recently used. What a regression!

@ccgus The app was perfect 2 major versions ago. Now it’s random changes every time.

@ccgus I hated recent timers getting first priority, so my year of anger is over. But there’s no “right” way for this. Apple should let us choose whether fixed or recent come first.

@drdrang @ccgus Not sure if you've discovered this yet, but you can tap Edit then pin individual timers to the top.

@dmd @ccgus Yes, I have my two most-used timers at the top. But I didn’t realize until just now that the standard timers couldn’t be removed. Couldn’t you add/remove any timer a few versions ago?

@drdrang No idea. I was relying on recents until this update effectively broke that.

Since you can add an arbitrary number of timers with arbitrary values, I don't see why certain of them seem to be privileged and can't be deleted. Doesn't make sense to me.

To be fair, I expect this is a challenging UX problem, like you said. I imagine multiple use cases with mutually exclusive needs. So we go back and forth and nobody's happy for very long. I don't envy those whose job it is to fix it.

@ccgus Just saw this article today. Number 15: you can pin specific timers to the top of the list on Apple Watch now.

Not perfect but may help you.
