I turned off bluetooth on my phone (to make sure it didn't try to connect that way). Then, in settings on the watch (Ultra 1):enabled WiFi, then General -> Software Update. Took about 5 min to download the update. No ideas how long "preparing" is going to take, though.

I have to remind myself every year how to do this, hence the quote toot for others. :)

@drdrang Update: I turned bluetooth back on at the phone, went into the watch app, and now I at least have a "Preparing" progress bar, at maybe 2/3 complete. No time estimate, but at least I have something to stare at now.
