So, @streetcomplete when filling in the questions using the Street Complete app, where are the additional details such as; the road surface, street lighting etc viewable? I can't see such details on the OpenStreetMap website or the OrganicMaps app, even with overlays... So, where are they viewed? What's the point in filling these details in? Are they collected just in case someone develops an app that decides to show this info maybe? #openstreetmap #OrganicMaps

@healthiswealth hey, good question!
Komoot for example used the surface details and in Trail Router you can avoid unlit streets - see screenshots.
But yes, some details may not yet be used, however making them widely available is the start, not the end of this data.
There are also a lot more details mapped in some areas, which the awesome "Straßenraumkarte" is showing off:

@streetcomplete Thank you (and everyone else) for the replies! Yes, this all makes sense now. I hadn't realised how many other apps/services used OSM data, and the extra data, like road surface, at that. I'll continue to contribute using SC/OSM/OM when and where I can. Thanks again! 👍

@healthiswealth also many things can contribute to routing, which you may not be aware of, like street width and lanes can make a difference for travel time: If you have to stop for letting people pass.
So some routers may take cues from such extra data where available.
