[#]WebFinger/RFC7033 is a required building block for #ActivityPub and the entire #fediverse. By design it cannot be hosted using static files, so if you want to implement name@domain.top, your domain has to run a dynamic, costly web server. Who came up with that nonsense?! Why did they chose parameter-based dispatch instead of path-based dispatch like any sensible API, especially because .well-known only contained paths and static entities before?

@crepererum ow, you're right it looks like the request for your account looks like this

GET /.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct%3Acrepererum%40mastodon.online HTTP/1.1

and that can't be a static file 🤔 so it needs at least some sort of rewriting 🙈
