Autumn colors are in the house... It's been a minute since I began this sampler quilt back in 2016, but it's finally done, done, done, and I'll take the check-mark, thank you!

@jotokla There are no repeating patterns. Is this the reason why it took so long to make?
How many hours did it actually take?
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from alo@toots.nu
@alo The short answer is I put it aside for a few minutes (years). The TL;DR is the quilt was begun as a group project, and the pattern for a single block was released once a week for 32 weeks, then each quilter in the group was responsible for designing their own layout design. It's an enjoyable and sociable way to make a quilt, but a very slow way to make one. Inertia set in. In reality, there were 200+ hours in making a quilt of this size.

I discovered your work thanks to a boost from @RiversideBryan
What a lovely treasure this quilt is! Thank you for sharing this photo of something so beautiful you made with your own hands.
I imagine, being so accomplished, you're familiar with the quilting tradition of Gee's Bend, Alabama.
This 15 minute expressive documentary "While I Yet Live" is a personal favorite - and if you have time and interest I hope you enjoy it as well:

Thank you for the kind words and for sharing the link to the short film. I've been an admirer of the Gee's Bend quilters for ages, but only ever once have I attempted to emulate their style of quilting.
