CNC-milled some iteration two cellular automaton puzzle pieces. They look fantastic and I am happy with the shape, they slot together very satisfyingly, but the milling job alone for 16 pieces was over 3 hours. That’s not going to cut it for mass production.

@isziaui You probably already thought of this, but it looks like you could make the pieces by cutting out the two layers on separate sheets, and then gluing them together.

@OscarCunningham Yes, that’s what I did in the first iteration (https://mstdn.social/@isziaui/113017372041070355), only I unnecessarily used three layers there, and will probably do again, unless I come up with anything better. The gluing is just a lot of work and hard to get precise enough. But I have some ideas to improve it. (More at https://youtu.be/2uBBUdoXoso?t=2143 )
