@SaraSoueidan The "don't buy" scenario makes sense, but I really don't get why they think I need to see ads when I have, actually, already bought the thing. Either they're stupid or they're ripping off their advertisers. Or both; willing to believe both.

@sbourne Agreed. It's like when you buy a product on Amazon and suddenly it starts flooding you with ads for 100s of similar products. Like if I bought a vacuum cleaner, why would you show me ads for 100 more?

@SaraSoueidan They used to be smarter. There was an article (years ago) about a woman buying a diet book and then being offered a ham. That made sense. (She did buy the ham )

I use donottrack which helps. Also use social fixer plugin for Facebook which blocks most of their crap. Not everything but it helps. I report and block all ads and block the companies.

@SaraSoueidan Click tracking is one of the various evils these companies practice. There are extensions like @eff's Privacy Badger to prevent this.

@SaraSoueidan My life is su much better since I banned as much as possible Google and Meta.

Just use the bare minimum because of my customers. So unfortunately still a bit of WhatsApp, a sleeping FB account (with 0 friends) and Drive.

And use Chrome (with some privacy plugins) to run some tests of my work.
