@KeepTakingTheSoma Thanks for this. I get to see Moran's cartoons because people often post them on GETTR.
I admire his technique, but can't get along with the repetitive "here's another politician soaked in gore" theme.
He's in that depressive rabbit hole so many people are in nowadays ("the whole world is shit" rabbit-hole). Unfortunately, if you perpetuate that, as an artist, you become part of the problem.
You're telling your audience "Same shit, different day". You perpetuate anger, depression, even suicidal thinking.
It's a kind of anger-porn.
When I was at the Morning Star I deliberately didn't do that kind of cartoon, my hero in British political Cartoons has always been Matt, of the Telegraph.
Matt is 60, nearly 20 years older than Bob Moran, and I feel that extra lived experience makes a huge difference - eventually you get to an age when you realise that using your art to spread negativity is not the best thing to do.
Matt has always concentrated on how the "little people" react to the horrendous news, in the typical British way of making jokes about it.
Sometimes those jokes are bleak, but at least they are being made BY the little people, who will still be here (we hope) when the soaked-in-gore politicians have faded from human memory.
Here's one of my Matt-style cartoons from 2016, about Jeremy Corbyn. (Who was being stabbed in the back by the entire Labour Parliamentary Party at the time). Its low quality - I just grabbed it off my website.
Moran would have drawn Corbyn with a bunch of knives sticking in him (and probably did)!

@RadicalCartoons @KeepTakingTheSoma Matt is one of my favourite cartoonists. It's what I miss most about (a) not having a Torygraph sub any more and (b) Elon Musk stopping non-members browsing through Twatter (Matt used to post his stuff up there).

@EmmyNoether @RadicalCartoons @KeepTakingTheSoma Well twatter is now currently valued at about 13 billion dollars because MUSKY boy didn't value the non members aka the public and he thought they had no bearing on twitter being a hit with the advertisers on there

@EmmaFaber @EmmyNoether @RadicalCartoons By no means do I see Musk as the saviour of free speech either.
I suspect he (like Trump etc) is controlled opposition.
If the good people of Brazil like their speech monitored and controlled by their elected overlords, then that is their choice and I wish them well. Same as anywhere else. I prefer to do my own thinking and speaking, as and when I like about what I like, but maybe that's just me.

@KeepTakingTheSoma @EmmyNoether @RadicalCartoons Musk is not about free speech, he is about charging you for it and then not allowing you to have it
