I'm hoping that some people have learned from the convention that maybe, just maybe, their conviction that the US is the shittiest shithole country that now or ever has existed may be a bit overstated.

And maybe that argument is not the ideal way of winning support for your policy preferences, even if they are actually better than what we currently have.

@mikej well, I mean, I'm opting out of attending an upcoming conference in the US. Not because of it being a "shitty shithole", but because of Canada and the US collectively giving up on any semblance of covid prevention. And also potential healthcare costs, if something were to happen on the trip.

If I were trans, or a woman, I'd have several other reasons to add to the list.

And that sucks, because conferences are fun.

VP Harris might - hopefully - be able to fix some of the above.
