Hi all,

I am looking for recommendations for a #email client under #Linux

Currently I am running #Fedora and the following programs either have considerable drawbacks making them unconfortable to work with or simply do not work at all

- calender reminders can‘t be turned off, not possible to modify entries (CalDav calendars) although I have full write access and can create new entries

- UI barely customizable: skins available only for older versions, haven‘t found a way to modify the toolbar to match my workflow

- doesn‘t work at all. Added mail accounts and messages do not show up

- same goes with calendars via #caldav

- I like the UI and the workflow matches mine, had used it years ago under #Ubuntu

- Evolution can‘t remember login credentials for mail accounts: every time I start the program it asks me for all credentials for all accounts and even then the setup process fails with accounts using #2fa

@phocque for accounts that aren't just straightforward IMAP auth, it's usually best to add them through gnome-online-accounts; evolution can usually pick them up from there.

@adamw I am under KDE but will try if using their online account functionality solves the issue. Many thanks

@phocque oooh, yeah, I think that makes it a bit trickier. I don't think goa and the KDE thing are compatible, but i've been wrong before!

@adamw Just configured online accounts under Gnome and then checked how Evolution is doing. Still asking me for login credentials over and over again. Seems there is a issue with Fedora and Evolution. I remember this client working well under Ubuntu, Debian and OpenSUSE

@phocque I don't know what account you're using exactly, but I use it with multiple accounts on Fedora and it works fine.

@adamw On my laptop with with Fedora Silverblue and GNOME I could add two accounts without any issue (IMAP and Outlook). Online accounts with Microsoft and Google I wasn't able to add to Gnome, browser windows failed to open.

As I imported Evolution settings from a previous installation on my desktop workstation this might cause issues. I will reset my Evolution and configure all accounts from scratch

@phocque

Dunno about Microsoft, but google works ok for me. I'm using rpm-based fedora not atomic, though.

@adamw Deleting all settings in Evolution and then adding accounts one by one finally did the trick. Now it is working 😊
