"The University approach to creating Data Science programs is often to take Computer Scientists and Statisticians and put them together and assume that will work.

But those people are often entrenched in their professional identities. We need people who are actually invested in Data Science to teach Data Science."

The point about letting go of a particular professional identity is well taken. One can be both DS and CS or Stat, but it's not automatic. 🤪
