I have finally found an analogy for explaining conceptually #whyILoveEmacs.
[#]Emacs (#vim) is more alike to systems #programming languages (usually statically typed), while the rest of the widespread #editors are more alike to dynamically typed languages.
True, the latter ones are easier to get started with. But the former ones provide more capabilities and--the most importantly!--introduce users to the underlying paradigms, making them realize how nuanced the choices can (and should!) be.
