"n & (n – 1) == 0" expression might be known to many. Or not.
[It allows to identify if an integer n
is a power of 2.]
It's just I find the linked #article explaining the bits behind to be nice and clear.

"A Shepard tone... is a sound consisting of a superposition of sine waves separated by octaves ... This creates the auditory illusion of a tone that seems to continually ascend or descend in pitch, yet which ultimately gets no higher or lower."
"Risset also created a similar effect with rhythm in which tempo seems to increase or decrease endlessly."

[#]rustlang #garbage_collector
... Rust's ownership system is a garbage collector, one that automatically calculates lifetime expiration based on lexical scope during compilation rather than at runtime based on ref-counts or root-traceability. What you call statically managed memory, I call lexical garbage collection.
Usually I dub GC as "automatic dynamic memory management", C as "manual static memory management", and Rust as "automatic static memory management.

"... a motivated group of talented Rust OS developers could build a Linux-compatible kernel, from scratch, very quickly, with no
need to engage in LKML politics. You would be astonished by how quickly you can make meaningful gains in this kind of environment; I think
if the amount of effort being put into Rust-for-Linux were applied to a new Linux-compatible OS we could have something production ready
for some use-cases within a few years."

I have finally found an analogy for explaining conceptually #whyILoveEmacs.
[#]Emacs (#vim) is more alike to systems #programming languages (usually statically typed), while the rest of the widespread #editors are more alike to dynamically typed languages.
True, the latter ones are easier to get started with. But the former ones provide more capabilities and--the most importantly!--introduce users to the underlying paradigms, making them realize how nuanced the choices can (and should!) be.

One of my favorite pieces of #art is exhibited in #Vienna Art History #Museum.
When I first saw it, I just froze for several minutes, experiencing a significant shift in the state of mind through it.
At some level, I even felt a desire to own it, to have it hanging on a wall beside me at home. (Well, I'm glad many people can experience it instead :masto_angel:)
This was the Christ Child with a Walking Frame by Hieronymus #Bosch (1480s).
