Julia has been "the next big thing in Data Science" for like 8 years... I know plenty of people do use it, but I wonder when it will tip into mainstream?

@kellybodwin yes, I have the same impression... but I have to say the people using it I know are very dedicated to it so I guess that gives it some staying power at least. I would love to give it a proper shot one day but it is probably rather more Python (due to NLP and web-ish stuff) for me in the future 🙁.

@kellybodwin if I had to make a bet, the way for Julia to go more mainstream might be the (sizable, at least here) Matlab audience.
