Ugh! Went to open up the Canberra Makerspace https://canberramaker.space/ today and found that on Friday afternoon the ACT Property Group (part of Major Projects Canberra that manages all Govt owned and leased properties) changed all the locks on our building, thereby completely locking us out of the space till we can hopefully get hold of the new keys. Since we generally only operate 2-3 days of the week, this means we've lost at least 1 day so far of running our space. Sunday is usually one of our busiest days too.

To add insult to injury, the locks they've changed everything to cost about $150 AUD a key to cut, which will be a big dent in our funds should we need to pay for it. Said funds are already somewhat depleted post Covid. What a complete mess!

Update to this:
Seems a contractor visiting the place managed to break a key on the lock. My guess is they dropped the padlock on the ground with the key in it, since it retains the key when unlocked.
Instead of asking our key contact what we wanted to do (especially since we have multiple keys and also an extra lock), they blindly went ahead and just replaced ALL the locks on the building (barrel and padlocks, all with a totally different key type, so the old keys are now useless).
They're cutting us some replacement keys, so hopefully that will solve the issue, but such a hassle caused by a lack of communication on their end.
