I can't put my finger on why superhero #ttrpg settings fall flat for me. I much prefer fantasy, post apocalyptic, or scifi. Curious if anyone has suggestions on how to get that same joy from the superhero genre? #rpg

@vincew I think the best superhero RPG would be Masks, but this is because Masks itself is a game that is juggling the themes of being a teenager and trying to find your place in the world while adults and authority figures judge you or try to make you fit in with their views of what you should be, with its superpowers being big metaphors for it.
Superheroes in themselves are just... Big old metaphors, same as the Grecian heroes. Big tales of hubris and valor and allegory written large.
For a game about people just being extravagantly powerful and moving mountains... I dunno, Exalted maybe? if it was just about the feeling powerful and hyper competent during combats then Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition certainly fits that for me and is easy enough to sheer from it's fantasy roots and turn into pure Marvel superheroics.
