(both of these were part of an essay on Armored Core VI which was indulging some post-modern fancies i had at the time; and since there appears to be some sort of word limit of 10K on write freely [trying to fix this], i posted this and BBB as separate stories [which they pretty much are anyway])

one staple of my writing last year was i was using hyphens super liberally which made sense at the time but not so much now.

(although, i get what i was trying to do: make unique nouns/verbs by combining words with hyphens [instead of just doing compound adjective stuff], but it does come off as hyper amateur now.)

i am super critical of everything i write in hindsight (because i was learning, and still am learning, perpetually a student but publishing like i'm not.)

despite all that, the opening line of this story always strikes me as one of the best things i've written so far, not sure why though.

"Enter extravagant mansion of tan-stucco-siding and faded Rubicon-red-roofing; balcony with all-real-moss; the Great Recession: 2008, summertime when the living is easy; night."
