(1/3) Hey you,
I'd like to tell you one reason why I haven't been here for so long, maybe it can help someone.
For several years I had increasing problems with tiredness, lack of motivation, concentration problems, stress and depression. Last year I also developed a unilateral vocal cord paralysis. Nothing (off time, medication, various doctors...) helped, it only got worse.

(2/3) Then an MRI for my voice accidentally found a benign nodule on a parathyroid gland, which regulate calcium in the body. This causes far too much calcium and parathyroid hormone in the blood. This can trigger many symptoms, e.g. kidney stones, hyperacidity in the stomach, bone pain / osteoporosis (because the calcium is taken out of the bones) and the neurological / psychological symptoms I mentioned.

(3/3) Then the diseased parathyroid gland was removed and since then I have been fine again. Small surgery with very big impact. My voice has also returned.
It would have been nice if the calcium in my blood had been tested earlier, it's apparently not standard. If any of you are running from doctor to doctor with such non-specific symptoms, it might be a good idea to test the calcium.
All the best for you, Steffi
