If the moon had an atmosphere similar to earth's, during (what we currently call) a total eclipse, what would it look like? Would it lens the sun's rays and carve a large burn area through our planet, or would it be too far or close for that? Would it look like a burning eye of some vengeful mystical god for the duration?
I should google it, it feels like this would have been answered already.

@PossiblyMax I remember reading about what the earth looks like when it occludes the sun like the moon does further out in the solar system, but I don't remember where I read it.
So, at least I can tell you there is something out there for you to find, but alas, I cannot find it.
