The fact that #AdventOfCode after 10 years still uses global time of submission as the metric is utter bullshit. To qualify you have only ~3 minutes after midnight UTC-5 to submit your solutions. If you're in a wrong timezone or have something else to do at that exact time your only chance to be on the leaderboard is to hope that people would drop out after a week.

These's a simple solution: measure time since a participant gets the puzzle until they submit a correct answer. It's not perfect, sure, but at least it gives a chance to more people around the world. The way it is right now is extremely biased.

It has been adopted into CSS Values Level 4 spec 6 years ago. No browser supports it to this day.

For those who doesn't know calc(100vw / 20px * 1em) should resolve to a proper value.

@ivory Can we please have an option to stop/pause video/animation in the timeline?

Sometimes a video is in the visible potion of the timeline, autoplaying and it’s distracting while I’m doing something else and need a specific toot nearby to be visible.

There used to be a whole subgenre of sci-fi I call “look at this cool place we found”. Rungworld, the Mote in God’s Eye, Rendezvous with Rama. Are there any modern books like that?

Banks’ Matter and Look to Windward have a bit of that in the background. Are there any new cool places?

So I was auditing my #RSS reader subscriptions. I had over 700 feeds in there. And over 90 were failing to fetch.

About 2/3 were moved feeds. A lot have moved from Medium to their own hosts, which is a welcome change. Quite a few ditched Feedburner. Some just move around because people switched blog engines.

From the rest 1/3 most just ditched feeds. This might’ve been understandable some 5 years ago. But now? Facebook is empty. Twitter is a dumpster fire. Google’s broken. Is it just for LinkedIn? Do they expect people to come to their site regularly to see if there's anything new? Is it just marketing spam? What's the point of having a blog at all?
