[#]WritersCoffeeClub 30: Do secondary characters sometimes get promoted to main characters?

In the Heart of Madness trilogy, Bethia was the main character in the first book. She provoked the gods into trying to deal with mankind, after... Things with dragons... Well, one of the side characters was a general called Cenn.

Starting in the second book, he was one of the only survivors of the entire realm being destroyed.

"The last two words just sort of popped out, uncontrolled. She immediately wished that she could cram them back into her stupid mouth and swallow them down into a void where nobody could notice them."

Re-reading Tina's Tiny Teacake and... This might be one of the best lines I've written.

Splunk winced, "... Are you sure? She's been doing this a long time."

Blauer's stomach dropped as she put it together. "Fuck me... No wonder it didn't work... Uh... Rita published a paper last year. Long term control and stabilisation of blitzchen embryos through pact compaction utilising feuerchen essencing."

"I... Eat trash..." Splunk said slowly.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 29. How do you format your drafts?

I have a little bit of code I put together, that renders my print PDFs, epub files, and a couple other formats, every single time that I save. (Mostly via Pandoc).

I read my draft, the same way my reader will read the book. It makes things simpler, and makes it easier to pick up on things that the reader might.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 26 January: If people tell you they've always wanted to write, what do you say to them?

Write. Write for you. Write the story you've wanted. Write again, and again.

My partner's daughter said that was hard, but she really wanted more. So... I put together a lil handbook of hints, tricks, and so on... And now I might have a teen vampire book begging me to edit it.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 24. How long is the longest story you’ve ever written? Can you link to it?

Probably "Everyday Life with Bubbles!" A bit over 300 pages.

The titular catgirl, Bubbles, is only interested in fish. She doesn't care about the war, the gods, assassins, or anything. She only wants to enjoy her life.

The chaos god however... Well, she's got a thing for fucking with Bubbles.

"AI, ML and cognitive computing will be implemented over the next five years for network self-management and standard-based APIs will simplify interoperability, enabling the faster roll-out of innovative solutions and improving customer experiences," Telstra International says.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

I cannot list how many reasons an ML-based routing systems is a terrible fucking idea.

"Everyone else is scared of me." She said with a touch of irritation. "Why are you not?"

Bram grinned, "Because!"

"Because why...?"

He nodded, "Exactly."

"Eugh! Forget it!" Ottilie snapped, and turned to take the woodcutter's path down towards the forest.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub Do any of your stories take place on the sea?

In the middle of a short piece, where a sole survivor of a ship going down decides to end it all, but on his way to die where the crew did, is saved by a selkie.

... I do not have enough ways to describe "big wave".

And that's without the actual work that goes into judging a couple thousand works in the space of a couple months.
