I'm re-reading Breath, Warmth, and Dream by @zzclaybourne ... again.

I'm drawn to it. Whenever I need to have my own breath taken away, and to be uplifted.

Damn, he's good.

Last night leaving work, my car complained that a stop lamp was out. So when I got home I ordered a replacement bulb set (they come in 2-packs) from our usual online oligarch, which arrived today.

I'm by myself, so I wasn't sure which bulb had failed. I swapped the left side bulb first. Nope. Sensor still complained.

Luckily, the right was obviously blown, and there's no more sensor complaints, so that completed the repair.

I now have a known good spare bulb for use when the center high lamp decides to fail. Of course, when that happens, I won't be able to find the bulb in my various junk drawers. All my drawers are junk drawers.

Sitting in the cardiologist's waiting room thinking about last year's crazy medication change due to a misdiagnosis, and me fainting when on the new med, which is STILL on their list of my meds even though it was immediately discontinued and replaced with yet another med.

Fun times.

My little wristwatch, after 5 years:

Battery - still going strong, about 70% of new.

Display - slight scratches, looks good.

Electronics - perfect.

Bluetooth - working well.

Vibrating alarm - still buzzing.

Firmware stack - no updates in 4 years.

Strap - on my 3rd, I wear 'em out.

Case - damned thing fell apart this morning. The watch is no longer wearable.

I am binging Season 4 of The Repair Shop. I discovered the show on Netflix years ago, and lately learned that 13 seasons are available on YouTube.

Every episode is chock full of touching family histories, Victorian artifacts, astonishing craftsmanship, and tears of joy.

About 2 hours ago, the TransmissionBT team pre-released 4.1.0-beta.1 for review.

I'm on it, for #openbsd. I've been following development and running integration testing. The only change needed is a reversion of libfmt to 10.2.1, so for this beta I only needed to create a custom tar ball for the already-prepared port.

Submitting it to ports@ to request testing by others, and on more architectures.

I submitted a Github pull request about 5 weeks ago. That's github-ese for, "Please, folks, take a look at this improvement I wrote for your application. " It's a small development project, with 2 intermittently active members, lots of inactive members, and many angry or frustrated contributors. I find myself in the frustrated group. Only the 2 members can approve and accept my effort. So I wait. With about 40 other people and more than 100 waiting code reviews.

:flan_guitar: "Oh, the wheels on the bus factor go 'round and 'round..."

This is the first of Hoffman's global coffee tastings I've been able to participate in. Previously they'd sold out in minutes.

With 90 different roasters and 4 tons of green beans, access by mortals was possible and I was able to join the fun!

And I discovered a roaster that was both nearby and new to me.

$DAYJOB directed me to obtain a government license in order to execute contracts on their behalf. It's a new requirement, due to changes in the company's business process used for these contracts.

Yesterday, I took -- and passed -- the prerequisite government exam. It was proctored, and conducted in-person.

No electronics were allowed, other than a 4 function calculator. I had to remove my wristwatch. A pre-test search of my person included inspection of my eyeglasses, sleeves, trouser hems, pockets, and a metal detector scan.

I was provided with a single pencil and sheet of scratch paper for note-taking, which had to be returned and inspected upon test completion. Personal stationary use was prohibited.

They let me keep my hearing aids in, though.

One of my cats puked on the bed. I washed the bed's comforter.

Here I am at the laundromat again, 36 hours later.

I don't know if it was the same cat. So I'll just have to blame both of them.

The most up-to-date expiration for this lot is ... 84 days from now.

This particular gift horse is nice, but it has a bit of halitosis.

Never.

I've been hunting locally for keto pancake mix, for many months. Neither Birchbenders nor King Arthur are stocked in stores here any more.

Amazon to the rescue. And I can't believe I am saying this. "Thank you, Mr. Bezos."

Ordered yesterday, arrived in time for breakfast today.
