My sketch habit has been rocky the past month or so. Maybe it's the holidays. Maybe it's because I took a detour working on a Christmas card. Whatever the cause, I've been really meh whenever I tried to pick up a pencil and paper, and my attempts at drawing have left me feeling pretty disheartened.

I realized I was probably approaching things wrong and decided to try to relax and just doodle whatever. No pressure. These little fun guys popped out.

I hadn't heard of Mel Muñiz nor Juan Pablo de Mendonça until about twenty minutes ago, but I'm sure happy to learn about them. This set of songs is a wonderful little treat:

The kiddo is not feeling well, and has been binge watching an old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle series. I'm not watching it, but as I go about things, I hear a villain's voice that instantly brings someone to mind. And what do you know, Jeffrey Combs played a character in this series.

Before this, I wouldn't really think of his voice as distinctive, but I guess it is. Something about his delivery. Not sure. Or maybe I just watched too much DS9. 😆

Pony has been in a pile of links for things to explore later, and lwn has an introduction to the big ideas behind it. Seems like it has an interesting computational abstraction and framework. "Preventing data races with Pony":

I dug out an old music archive last year from about 15 years ago, and I have been dipping into it every now and then, "rediscovering" the stuff I have. Anyway, I've been enjoying William Orbit's "Strange Cargo III" this evening while I do some chores:

I admit, due to circumstance beyond my control, my listening was frequently interrupted, but despite that, I enjoyed this set from Nilüfer Yanya this morning:

I voted my conscience on the two proposals with the assumption that other people will have the opportunity to do the same. I didn't try to overthink from other people's perspective, which is something I tend to do. I'm voting my own perspective, and I hope others do the same.

I rediscovered "Super Cartography Bros." in my collection this afternoon. It has been a refreshing listen on an otherwise subpar Monday.

Can you imagine the embarrassing dandruf problems Gorgons had whenever their snakes were molting? There's probably not a shampoo for that kind of thing. :thonking:

Before I forget, and just for the purposes of this thread where I seem to be dumping all my art related things, the post linked below contains a christmas card I made in 2013.

I already haven't been hanging out here as much the past week, and I think I'll take a more definitive break starting today.

I hope you have good holidays, if that's your thing. Otherwise, I hope you have good days.

I've got the urge to make a Christmas card again, but if I manage it, it'll be next year's. I actually have two ideas, but I'm trying not to abandon the first.

I don't have a card this year, but this is the one I made in 2013. See you next year!

I'm probably the wrong guy to be posting about this on the internet, but Proko has done an "advent calendar" or "12 days" of sketchbook tours from some fabulous artists. Yeah, it's a (very mild) promo for proko's lessons, but if you have an interest in other artists' sketching habits or just want to see artists talking about their great art, then maybe check it out:

I've got a new song for my Christmas playlist. I stumbled across "Electronic Santa Claus" on my drive to work.

It's by "Blazer Force", which is apparently an alias for a Bret McKenzie, who I am not familiar with.

Phrases like "average user"... "normal people"... kind of set me on edge. We should just say "imagine a perfectly spherical person".
