is dat ik nu snap waarom supermarkten het groente en fruit allemaal (behalve hoogvliet en dirk) bij de ingang zetten:

vers eten is statusverhogend.
maar daarom is groente en fruit retail zo duur
allemaal veel lastiger dan de eindeloos houdbare bewerkte troep waar je geen genoeg van krijgt, maar aan kapot gaat.
en dat is in veel landen nog erger - maar er zijn ook plekken waar het beter gaat, en dat zijn echt niet allemaal maar rijkere landen. groente en fruit waren lange tijd op feel plaatsen smaakvoller.

Maar, het vangnet is ook geen schavot. Dat is nog altijd 'neerlands trots', voor een flink deel van de mensen.
En er is niemand verplicht te werken: De rentenierende klasse geniet immers ook van een riant vangnet, waarvoor geen tegenprestatie word afgedwongen.
Ondanks dat lang niet alle grote vermogens in dit land, te goeder trouw en op eerzame wijze zijn vergaard!
De gouden eeuw bijvoorbeeld, was voor de vele gekoliseerde en tot slaaf gemaakte volkeren die al dat goud moesten ophoesten een dikke stapel zwarte bladzijden, in een geschiedenis die nog altijd roet in het eten gooit. Overal op de wereld. Het loont hier zorgen over te hebben.
Ja, excuses voor het slavernijverleden.
En voor de kolonisatie an sich?
Reparaties? Herstel?
Wellicht kunnen we beginnen door de ongelijke handel die nu plaatsvind stil te leggen.
Als we stoppen met welvaartsoverdracht van Afrika en Zuid-amerika (maar vooral afrika, voor het europees perspectief)
zou dat misschien gelijk een hoop met die zo beruchte vluchtelingenstroom helpen. Het is armoede honger en oorlog die ze ontvluchten.
Als hier in de supermarkt de prijzen stijgen, omdat de oogst tegenvalt in bijvoorbeeld het Verenigd Koninkrijk, betekent dat doodgewoon: Er is minder aanbod in markten waar de koopkracht lager ligt.
Ik vind het dan best wel gruwelijk, en ik maak daarmee een denkstap, dat ten bate van de aandeelhouders van nederlandse supermarktconcerns, de schaarste aangegrepen word om de winstmarge tevens te verhogen,
terwijl we het wel zouden moeten hebben, maar dat niet doen, over een ongelijke verdeling van de hongersnood in de wereld. En dat er nog steeds een kwart van de calorien in de afvalstroom belanden is in dat licht een gruwel, een diep falen.
Dat deze afvalstromen deels hergebruikt worden als veevoer doet daar weinig aan af.
Wellicht in tegendeel: Het is juist ook deze vleesindustrie, die van lichamen producten maakt, die een belangrijke motor achter de klimaatontwrichting is, en een grote druk legt op de wereldwijde voedselproductie. De vleesindustrie, waarin Nederland een van de grootste exporteurs is, een miljardenindustrie die zich zelfs een coalitiepartij kan veroorloven, misbruikt deze combinatie van internationale handel en een historisch opgebouwde ongelijke verdeling van geld macht en welvaart, om van schaars voedsel een winststroom te maken, waar ons land aan kapotgaat.
Land hier in de definitie van: Water, grond, vruchtbare aarde, adembare lucht. De natiestaat kan me gejat worden - zij is dat immers al! Ten stelen opgericht.
Het idee dat 'boeren' (traditioneel: landbouwers, maar in deze verknipte weergave van '''de realiteit''', vleeshorrorkapitalisten) de dupe zouden zijn van nodeloos klimaatbeleid, is van zo'n gruwelijke achterlijkheid, dat ik me niet aan de indruk kan onttrekken, dat de wreedheid en de platvloerse leugenachtigheid, onderdeel zijn van een bewuste boodschap: Fuck you, wij zijn hier de baas, hou je klep, geef hier die staat, de regering was al van ons, maar nu zal je het echt voelen.
"Het fascisme is het kapitalisme in verval." Ik herhaal het nog maar eens. Wen er maar aan. Als de regering zich - ik kijk even naar de VVD - zo gulzig in het bruine laat trekken, dat zelfs vermoeiende patjepeër Frans Timmermans zich ineens tot boegbeeld van de deugd en het fatsoen weet op te richten, dan weet ik ook hoe laat het is.
Het uur U! Het uur, waarin u ontdekt, of u fout zou zijn geweest in de oorlog, of gedreven door medemenselijkheid en een onverzettelijk gevoel van gerechtigheid, uw hart moed en ziel weet laten te spreken, ondanks dat dit iel en zinloos klinkt in het moment.
De geschiedenis laat blijken:
Het is juist vanuit het beetje licht dat men in de duisternis samen heeft weten te bewaken, dat nadat de storm weer is gaan liggen een vuur kan worden ontstoken om opnieuw aan wederopbouw te beginnen.
Een rijker, mooier, en eerlijker wereld dan voorheen, hopelijk.
Maar dan zullen we dit keer wel moeten afrekenen, met de krachten die ons hier hebben gebracht, tot aan en wie weet al over de afgrond. Hebzucht, moedwillige onwetendheid, egocentrisme, afgunst, lafheid en laksigheid, en het uit psychologische zelfbescherming tot deugden uitroepen van deze destructieve symptomen van de totale vervreemding, die nodig waren om je in wereld van omgekeerde deugd stand te houden. Ik heb er begrip voor, en mededogen, maar geen geduld. Ik gun ons beter en ik hou te veel van je om je te zien wegkruipen en het er maar bij te laten.
Hop, solidariteit! Aan de bak, zelfreflectie, leren, agiteren, organiseren. Het is duidelijk dat we voor de goede afloop niet louter meer kunnen vertrouwen, op gewoon over 3 jaar ietsjes beter stemmen. Er kan in die tijd teveel kapot.
De samenleving doe je toch echt samen, en gedane zaken nemen geen keer, gesproken woorden neem je niet terug. Je leeft de consequenties van de realiteit waarin je je bevind. Althans, als je jezelf in de ogen wil blijven aankijken.

(electoral) Fascism has nowhere to go unless it finds support
with the white liberal.
As capitalism falls shorter and shorter of providing for people's needs, and offering a hopeful future, the white liberal slice of the electorate shrinks: People flee to the 'extremes': Left-wing, or right-wing radical politics.
In order to ally itself with the left wing, white liberalism needs to make concessions that they know will never satisfy. Will only lead to further concessions to the left, until there's nothing left of capitalism, the profit margin, the class hierarchy.
Acquiescing to the demands of the right demands another kind of sacrifice:
The assumption to dignity.
Human rights for 'others' - others that these pro-capitalist white liberals do not really care for. Oh, they'll say they care. They'll hand-wring, they'll .. demand concessions in turn, for example as is happening in the Netherlands: They'll make the fascists sign fig-leaf statements: That they'll uphold the rule of law and democracy.
When faced with the choice: Cooperate with the right wing, and sacrifice brown people and the global south and the planet to rescue capitalism from it's own inherent contradictions,
or working with the left: Dismantle capitalism, so we can maintain peace in society and human rights, as we do our best in solidarity with the rest of the world,
The ruling class to which white liberalism will demand - without having to say anything - to extend the lease on life for capitalism, at the expense of every other consideration.
Case in point: Large donors shifting to the trump campaign right now, pledged domations from mayor capitalists to the democratic party not coming through. Even as trump has explicitly stated that he'll effectively get rid of demoracy and the republic.
Capitalists are not your friend.
Anyway, in late stage capitalism, i have to regretfully conclude, that i don't see an electoral way forward. Because inherently, representative democracy with it's twice-a-decade election cycle, serves the ruling class, the owning class, which has access to the halls of power everyday, through deep-pocketed lobby-firms. The money to bribe the state is coming from the state,
because the state is the mechanism to uphold the power and violence hierarchy, in the present case class society.
That's not a belief, it's an observation. It's the best theory to explain the facts i've seen so far. As it's a daunting one, i'd prefer another explanation - so come forth if you can! Enlighten me.
Until another political path forward shows itself, i remain intellectually compelled, and morally compelled, as a result of the burden of understanding, to consider myself among the anarchists. It is the most sensible seeming stance to take in this historical moment.
Electoral leftism at this time is a mere hobby, and a source of copium. Not a suitable treatment for the wound of the moment, as all it does is dull the pain, which screams at us that there's something deeply wrong with the beheld world. I do not wish to be numbed. I wish to stand in solidarity, and in action, to maintain those values with require to be maintained as all else crumbles: Human dignity, solidarity, compassion. Useful work, a healthy planet, trust in each other and the soothing presence of other humans joined in kind labor.
I refuse to despair, i refuse to compromise my beliefs and my solidarity for the sake of my temporary comfort, i refuse to pretend that the power structure can be maintained and remain useful as long as electoral leftism keeps propping up the so easily compromised fake values of white liberalism, under the threat that it will side with nazis' if 'we'* don't. (*the left)
The project of human rights and internation law, the united nations and international court of justice, while ofcourse still products of this paradigm, remain valuable to me. At least we have an internationally recognized set of values to which i can point and say: These i uphold. The closest the thing we have to a global constitution.
And a court i can point to, that can hold me to account if i break this agreement.
But nationalism, sorry, i've lost my faith in the state based on such fickle identities, that are granted and taken away based on the mood of the day and present sentiment of the violent mob, to whom nothing is sacred. Sorry of that's elitist, and i do indeed wish more care had been taken in our collective education.
Especially history lessons, although our last prime minister and the present head of NATO is a historian, so knowledge of history is no guarantee.
Perhaps we should combine such knowledge with the wisdom not to project our own fears and desires onto patterns we don't fully understand.
Strong beliefs, loosely held. I'm not a fundamentalist about any of this. But what's seen cannot be unseen, and i refuse to close my eyes and try.
There's way too much at state, and far too much to be done.

It's just not understandable to me how farmer's protests could lead to gains for the political extreme right.
Isn't it obvious that farmers and food systems struggle because of the practices of supermarkets, big business, wrecked government ability to provide policies to prevent toxification of the environment by industry.
The interests of farmers are aligned with the interests of the people, which means their interests are to call a halt to capital's extortion of the planet.
Let farmers reap the rewards rather than ridiculous margins in supermarkets (they'll complain: what margins? we're not turning a profit! have you seen our rents? our energy costs?
Those are arguments that could tempt uniformed liberals to think "ok fair enough, it's just inflation"
but let's remember one important thing: The tiny majority of capitalist shareholders owns the supermarket and the energy company and the landlording real-estate conglomerate. All these "expenses" are, as we say in Holland, "breast pocket - pants pocket - transactions", whose main purpose is to obscure the wealth transfer happening between farm and supermarket shelf - From the farmers and the public, to the wealthy owners of capital & everything else.
And then, those same capitalists own the media which funnels the anxiety, mental health stress, and anger this arrangement causes, into gains for the far-right politicians they bankroll.
fascism is good for business.
