The dire consequences I was upset about are not going to happen, so I will eventually chill out. But the offer stands!

Everybody's like "academia is so insular and I can't say what I want to say" until someone comes along like "I am not supposed to have the power to publish you, but I do, and I will do it." Radio silence. I'm freaking out here.

When I have asked people "what about publishing [a piece that I regularly cite but which only exists in your blog]?", the most common response has been that it's not good enough for academic publication.
And. Like. Dawg. I am literally the judge of that right now.
Nobody gets points for modesty in a crisis.
I just... Oh my God, why is this happening?

If you or someone you know has an article that you want published in an academic journal, please let me know. The Seattle Journal for Social Justice is looking for pieces. I have discretion to extend offers.
As long as it is on theme with "social justice," consider sending it to me. I have good taste and am anti-elitist. I mean it: as long as you think it has an angle for social justice, send it to me and you have a good chance.
Medium does not matter as long as it could be printed in a book. It can be visual art or poetry or anything.

The temptation to rationalize Biden as a good president based on policy rather than as the worst president based on his effect is a liberal reaction. By that, I mean it is exactly the kind of reaction that the system is designed to make you believe matters because it aligns with the interests of the rich and powerful. It is not real. It was never real. Things are worse because things are worse.

Honestly, Biden was a worse president than George W. Bush. Part of that is distance from the beast and all of the memory holing of the Bush years, yes.
But in pure, practical terms, Biden succeeded arguably the second-worst president of our lifetime, reset the Overton Window for every bar at or lower than the second-worst president left them. He explicitly dismantled the popular left-wing (albeit captured) movement that he entered office alongside. Then, he positioned that same guy to come back into office with a mandate to pointedly lower the bar even further, now completely unhinged by any institutional checks whatsoever.
Like. As much as "the worst president of the 21st century" is actually the Democratic Party as a whole, Biden's role in history was literally prolonging Hitler's reign and making Hitler worse. On purpose. "For your own good."

This is not an accelerationist point. It is a political accounting point. Can we please retire the argument that the capitalist enemy of my capitalist enemy is my friend?

So, with the benefit of hindsight, can we really say 8 years of Trump with no break in Hashtag The Resistance would have been worse than 12 years of Trump with a narrative that the Resistance died off at some point in the middle there?

Cosmically, I think we can all agree that Zuckerberg growing even weirder as a right-wing oligarch over time makes "Lean In" very funny in hindsight.

Part of me does want to think this "Resignation of 2025" from the elites means they no longer see it as profitable to pander to left-wing causes. Maybe they won't successfully co-opt the next uprising. Who's to say?

The NY Times front page spread is on the Gaza ceasefire, but Trump's inauguration is there without a picture. The entire article is about how nobody seems to be resisting Trump, and I can't think of a better demonstration that the NY Times only cares about wealthy people in New York.

RIP TikTok. The liberals on the court still don't know how to just dissent instead of letting bullshit they claim to not love go 9-0.

Unbelievable quality. Like. People are so generous. Imagine if we just let each other do cool things for free instead of forcing us all to work for bosses.

Genuinely, I hate that most people who try to learn a language fail so most free teachers gear half their content towards shit like "speaking natively" or "how to learn quick."
Explain it to me or shut the fuck up. Stop filling my recommended with crap for people who don't care.
