hey #sofa gang, good morning. im waking up with caffeine and some good hip hoppy jazz beats right now, while i muse about my many projects on the go, both unfinished and staying at that state probably, and the ones im enjoying the learning with.
currently ive got these in the go:

thanks for documenting my frustrations with neovim, past me: https://codeberg.org/m455/dotfiles/commit/24cbc04e0ccdfa7d73ba88755e537b5c181c9281
it saved me from a "i should give neovim another chance" moment again lol

i feel like an easy-to-setup alternative to discord and all those things would be an ergo.chat irc server that only allowed TLS/SSL connections on 6697, and a kiwiirc front end that, by default, used SSL, or somehow you removed the option to disable SSL.
That way you can provide a username and login experience.
could even limit it to one channel to make moderation easier by only allowing operators to create channels too.
hell, make it sasl only so you cant connect unless you are registered

lol @ the "whats new" notes for the signal desktop app on linux :
What's New
January 15, 2025 · 7.38.0We fixed a bug with @ mentions that sometimes incorrectly included your own account in the autocomplete suggestion list. As a narcissistic workaround, you can still use third-person narration to talk about yourself in your group chats if you ever miss this bug.

okay i think i found out the secret formula to speaking like a person from the US, you just need to say random numbers without units, acronyms, and state abbreviations, and talk confidently like people know what your talking about
like "yeah it was like 72 out yesterday in mh but i hear the IRD is going to double down on C-24, so people are probably gonna go on strike otherwise well probably have another 9/26"

having an interface like an rss feed reader for mastodon would be nice, so the less frequent posters can be seen too. i understand you can tag on .rss to a user's link to get the feed, but yeah lol
though the feed format is fun, which i like, even though it buries some quieter posters lol

wooo added support for arbitrarily nested hashtables and lists in my lisp: https://codeberg.org/m455/lip/commit/5d297b6ee7c9157f13ac2b76cd570fedae379a1b
(originally i only implemented this for the shorthand for hashtable lookups)

it would be neat if there was an input method for apl-like languages that used a pinyin-like system for typing characters using an english keyboard.
for example, you can write 你好 using a pinyin input method by either typing nihao or nihao
(you can choose different entries for homonyms using numbers if, say, you wanted to type the character for mud instead of the character for "you")

secure scuttlebutt's offline features were fucking great. sure, it took up a lot of space on your harddrive (okay a couple of gigs probably isn't that much for an entire social media of nodes you've connected to) and running it made my fans spin, but i loved being able to browse shit offline and reply to things offline, and then, when i connected to the internet, all of it would then send, and appear as if i had replied at the time i replied offline. that shit was great
