If you know a subject well (eg. historical events or organisations), ask it a question and the likelihood is what it returns is mostly garbage or very misleading.

For instance, I just had a ridiculous conversation with it about GNU Emacs.

Ebay seems to have joined the war upon VPNs.Yet another "password reset" which never happened previously. What's the point of all the "2 factor authentication" if their website is this insecure. The only explanation is that I often go there using a VPN, they don't like that, so they lie about "security."

The melodeon player is Percy Brown. He's playing what Hohner calls the "Vienna Model 2915", in England almost universally called the "Hohner Pokerwork." It has two rows of buttons and this one is in the keys of D and G.

The tune that Percy is playing is called the Yarmouth Breakdown. You can hear him playing it on the classic LP "English Country Music from East Anglia":

How on earth do you post a useful comment on Youtube these days? That is, without it being algorithmically deleted?

Nowadays, I basically never log into Youtube to comment. Except, for example, this historical clip of English step dancers from Cromer (see the next reply "toots" for the video and my comment).

I took out links (internal and external), leaving only instructions on how to search for the web pages, but, no, Youtube simply deletes my comments.

If you run your own servers, you will eventually do something stupid.

Always keep notes and necessary backups, not just because hardware will break, but also because you will do something stupid.

Anyone using surge.sh that has a site search running?

I tried using pagefind, which runs everywhere for me (local development servers, lighttpd), but there are a series of errors thrown up on Surge and it does not work there.

I don't want to spend the rest of the week trying other solutions so I wonder whether anyone else might have a tip for me 🙂
