Yay, with a lot of tinkering I got my frankenstein homeserver down to 55W idle. Note that it has an RTX 3060 that can on demand crunch numbers quite fast and then spin back down.

Could I have gone way lower if I knew what to look for in a motherboard / GPU? Yes, but hindsight's 20/20. I have to make due with what I have.

Yay, I got a new top speed from my internet connection: 13MiB/s to github.com. Apparently github's servers are quite accessible from my location. Most other servers are between 4 to 8 MiB/s.

Quick reality check: What are your usual speeds when pulling data from servers over the internet?

Wurden eure VPS teurer? Ich hab' einen VPS für 2.66Euro / mo, aber das günstigste Angebot jetzt ist 3.99Euro / mo.

Und übriges, wieso sind die ARM-Angebote um einiges teurer? Wären nicht diese die kostengünstige Alternative?

Okay, I really want to know what your opinion on this is, but I realize that this might be extremely controversial. I still want to get to know opinions though. To limit escalation, I will not comment on any reply.
