I might just have gotten a very immoral business offering regarding OctoPrint earlier today... playing dumb and asked for details.

If my gut feeling is correct then: ewwww.

The #bouldering session this morning was sadly overshadowed by my right shoulder acting up and thus I couldn't go as strong or long as I would have liked. I still made the best of it and at least managed to top a route I hadn't yet been able to! Folding myself into corners isn't exactly my thing 😅

Another one for the collection to remind me that I in fact now CAN give talks without turning bright red thanks to crippling stagefright 💪 It was a long process ^^

Slides are now also up on foosel.net!

Thank you Christian for the picture!

First time giving a talk to an actual live audience sitting right in front of me since October 2019, and boy is that better than talking to a camera with googly eyes 😅

I really missed this!

To those of you who attended it: Thank You!

Y'all, if you help testing a release candidate of a piece of open source software, it really helps if you actually open bug reports for any bugs you find in the issue tracker, especially if that is requested by the project, instead of commenting about found problems all over the place apart from in a proper bug report 😭

I need to somehow secure a Lightning Talk slot at every #Python con I'll visit this year...

I just spent way too much time once more on going through every little dependency update with a magnifying glass and even reading through code because plenty of library maintainers don't understand (or use) semantic versioning and think dropping support on patch versions is a great idea - often even without mentioning that in the changelog. If that actually exists.

AAAAAAH!

Ngl, seeing the whole AI market almost implode overnight thanks to a chinese (!) startup throwing a new open source (?) model on the market that performs just as well as the market leaders at a fraction of the (energy) cost has me cackling in glee.

It is about time this fucking bubble started bursting and I sincerely hope this is the start of it.

It's January and we just had the first thunderstorm of the year, including a storm warning. This is now the second or third year in a row this had happened, and that's really all you need to know about this timeline.

With everything going on out there, also here in DE, I'm currently just doing my best to ignore most of the news in order to be able to continue to function.

The alternative would be to curl up into a ball and refuse to get out of bed.

I feel like somewhere around 2016ish the timeline just went nuts, and since then we've been living in a parallel universe that just enshittifies faster and faster.

I'm focusing on positive things to keep going. Filters ftw.

I've now mounted the front plate and electronics of my first 3d printer into a frame and given it a place of honour in my office. The printer with which everything OctoPrint started. The printer that literally changed my life.

I think that's a good way to keep it in memory without it taking up too much space.

We almost gave up this morning to get our #bouldering session in thanks to the hall opening later than usual due to large public transport issues, but the wait was worth it. Managed to top the fb5 I couldn't on Tuesday 😊

Got another #38c3 @ChaosPost card delivered when I met postman @Romses for climbing again yesterday. The delivery delay was not his fault but all mine 😅

Thank you very much for this one, @MacLemon! 😊

Well, in the end it became an updated version of a past talk on something I think is very important to talk about.

CfP answered ✅

The rest is not in my hands ^^

Good grief... First several hours of migrating my business account thanks to a change at my bank that requires updating IBAN and credit card numbers everywhere, then several more hours of compiling the changelog for OctoPrint 1.11.0rc1, and still no end in sight of getting done with the latter.

My brain refuses to focus on anything written now. Completely noped out, no more concentration or comprehension possible 😕

It's a bit late for a first #bouldering session of 2025, but up until now first my health and then the recent trip got into the way of my usual rhythm.

Lost some strength over the past weeks, but at least got some more energy again 😊

Tried my hand at an fb5 balance route and an fb6a roof route, but couldn't top either, so the max diff today was fb4. But now I have some new goals again 😉

Hm... I'd really love to hand in a talk for the #EuroPython CfP closing in a week, but I'm so utterly drawing a blank on the topic 😂

So let's try something new. Plenty of you here know what I'm doing, full time open source maintenance, OctoPrint, all of that. If given the chance, what would you like me to talk about in the context of EuroPython? 🤔

Spent a beautiful week with my partner of now five years in the southern Black Forest, to celebrate our anniversary by taking a short time out in nature 😊

While I'm admittedly not too thrilled to return to work again tomorrow, this was the kind of reset I needed and it did a lot in topping up my energy levels 🥰

Apart from hiking and a wellness day in a spa, we also played through Rise of the Golden Idol in the evenings 😊 #relationshipGoals

For the record, those things are an absolute game changer when it comes to winter hikes. Waited way too long to get myself some.

No more slipping!
