I have been adulting this evening! On a related note, hoooooly shit is the BC government's website absolute garbage.

"You must be using Internet Explorer 10+ and have Javascript enabled to use this order form" is not exactly what you want to see when dealing with a government form.

Seriously the UK is pretty terrible, but I have been absolutely spoilt by the government's high quality web services.

The comments on the new #StarTrek #Section31 trailer are scathing, and entirely reasonable. With all the options Paramount had for expanding the Star Trek library, a dark, lens flare -laden Marvel knockoff should not have ranked.

I don't know what they're thinking frankly, and I can't figure out how Strange New Worlds has managed to be developed so well in such a corporate climate.

Code formatters like ruff, black, and djade are great, but the way they casually delete empty lines and lack any ability to disable this "feature" is infuriating.

Code is dense and for many, hard to read without white space. Adding an extra blank line can mean a great deal for general readability and can do wonders for those with dyslexia.

Please just give me the option to have your tools just not nuke them!

Fun fact: when HMRC asks you to do a tax self-assessment, they may well decide that they want you to pay them for taxes you have yet to earn in the coming tax year.

This year, they think I should pay them an additional £8k for 2024/2025 on top of the £8k they're already asking for 2023/2024 and frankly I'm freaking out a little.

Ever wonder why the Democrats in the US lose so damn much? It's because the people that own the party will never let it represent the Left of the political spectrum. They'd much rather the poor and angry vest their support in a fascist than dare to do right by them.
