I was following three hourly red panda bots, but for some reason, all three ended up being offline. So, I made my own. I hereby present to you:

"Goosefoot" is apparently a kind of flower.
"Gänsefüßchen" are quotation marks. [*]
"Πόδι της χήνας" are those wrinkles on the outside of one's eye. [*2]
"Patte d'oie" is, those wrinkles again, but also one tendon below the knee.
MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE.
[*] There is a flower called Gänseblümchen (goose's little flowers) in German, but different than "Goosefoot".
[*2] Yes, crow's feet in English and German. The term "crow's foot" is also used for caltrops, in both English and German.

Just installed a private instance of SearXNG and switched my search to it. I'm really really happy with how it works, it might be the best search engine I've used lately.

Dear websites, why don't you specify the shipping method when you let me select something? I see "standard shipping" and "expedited shipping" with estimated delivery dates, but what they don't say is, whether standard shipping is via the normal post office (in which case I'll get a note and will need to queue up at the post office) and whether either of them will be delivered to my door or to a smart locker.

Yesterday @slomo and I went to a park with some ducks and geese. Later on during the day, the park guardians started walking around with whistles, to inform guests that the park was about to close. The geese decided to join in the fun, by honking while looking at the people and pointing their heads towards the exit. They were literally honking the people away! So it was like, whistle from the park guardians, honk from the geese, whistle, honk, etc. 🤣

@tea After being sick of having to descale my water boiler pretty much daily, I bought one of those jugs with a filter that reduces water hardness, and I'm already mind blown.
First of all - the tea tastes SO much better!
After three days of using it, the water boiler doesn't have any kind of crust at the bottom. We even leave the hot water inside, so we can reheat it next time, instead of pouring it out and rinsing it immediately.
Also, that kind of brown residue on the cups after drinking tea? That's also reduced quite a lot.
Why had I not thought of this all these years 😭

I published @RandomHourlyDuckBot 's source code: https://github.com/vivia/mastodonduckbot
It was a fun little experiment for me. I didn't speak Python, yet it was easy enough for me to search how to use a few libraries and put a few pieces together to make this work in just a couple of hours.
Thanks a lot to @the_compiler for reviewing the initial clumsy (but working!) version of my code!

We usually measure our car's consumption in l/100km. If you simplify the units, this actually becomes a measure of area, 0.001 mm² to be precise:
1l/100km = (0.001 m³) / (100000 m) = m³ / (100000000 m) = 1e-8 m² = 0.001mm²
The physical interpretation of this is, that if your car "ate" a noodle made of fuel while driving (instead of using a fuel tank), then this value would be the cross sectional area of this noodle.
Just saw this interesting fact in some chatroom and found it worth sharing here (with permission).
