My first job — actually, both my first summer job and my first job out of school — was in Weehawken, and I was reminded tonight that not everyone knows about the Alameda-Weehawken Burrito Delivery Tunnel. Still one of the best job perks I’ve had, even if I could only spring for it once a week.

Most if these recommendations have been hits, at least in the sense that 5yo loves “reading” them on her own and we’ll start them together over and over, but her ability to stick with the same story for multiple nights is still pretty marginal. But we finished this one tonight and I loved it.
We usually agree to two chapters a night, but we did a third because I really wanted to see how it wrapped up.

Today is my birthday, and it’s been kind of a mess. I seem to have gotten whatever bug took out ½ of 6yo‘s class & ⅓ of 5yo’s class last week, and it’s pretty miserable. Felt pretty decent in the afternoon, but got behind on meds; dinnertime was a new low. Trending better now.
Still, my partner & 5yo just made a large batch of ricotta, as part of an undisclosed treat for me (I have a pretty good idea, because 5yo is terrible at keeping secrets).
I’ve got a really great family. I’m very lucky.

I gave up on Reddit when they killed 3rd-party clients. After trying lemmy and kbin, I realized what I really wanted from Reddit was mostly just Usenet. And it’s still there.

There's some really great kids movies. Even super mainstream stuff. Like, Frozen's just a really good movie. Frozen 2's better. Most of the Pixar stuff is great.
Today 6yo is sick so she got to pick a movie today. Her friends at school are talking about the latest Descendants movie, so we're starting with the first in the series.
This is not good. Astoundingly bad. Painfully bad. Keeps-getting-worse bad. The-things-we-do-for-kids bad.
