Just a reminder that robots.txt is largely useless as a mechanism to stopping or controlling bots from hitting your website.

You don't have to take my word for it - Slack themselves straight up admits they don't honour it because it was too annoying to deal with.

Just a reminder that IANA has still not said anything about the .io TLD and that until they do, you should not panic or spread misinformation about it.

IANA is the only authority in the matter and they have the final say.

I believe that you would see it here: https://www.iana.org/reports https://mastodon.social/@ecn/113272866095981249

Having and running a website used to be a fun novelty of sharing, learning, and exploring. Somewhere along the way, I lost that. I aim to bring it back.

Folks, IANA have not said anything about .io, and until they do - don't believe anything that tries to make any bold claims.

".io is going away" - not until the actual authority who can make that decision says so, and so far they've said nothing.

@bagder what are your thoughts on providing dedicated curl_easy_setopt method for the value types it supports?

Languages like Swift don't support the macro, so folks have started writing shim files to work around this. Wonder if maybe this would be better to be a part of the API itself.

Really laughing at the Mozilla engineer saying that AI needs to be baked directly into the browser, because an extension couldn't provide the user interface they want.

My brother in browsing, you make the browser. Those are YOUR limitations you've put in place.

Firefox really lost a huge competitive edge when they killed off XUL plugins.

HOLY SHIT NO. NO NO. NO.

Listen to the stories of the victims who were "treated" there. Listen to the stories of kids who saw their parent's health decline while there, only to end up dying.

Riverview was not a hospital. It was a prison. It was a site of torture and suffering.

It shouldn't exist. The buildings should've been leveled years ago, but the government makes money off letting movies and TV shows film there.

The recently announced YubiKey vulnerability doesn't really concern me in and of itself, because it requires destroying the plastic housing of the key, making it very obvious it's been tampered with.

Given that it requires physical access + disassembly + direct access to the storage/processor, I think you should have already considered an attack like this possible.

I switched to LibreWolf over from Firefox because 1. i'm getting sick and tired of Mozilla's crap and 2. it actually lets you install add-ons that haven't been blessed my mozilla

seriously how the hell is firefox supposed to be the good browser if they don't let you install any add on unless mozilla has blessed it??? this is literally the iOS approach, and even Apple lets you install an app you've built yourself to your own device without apple review (with some restrictions)

@ivory it seems like posts with YouTube links don't show any information about the video, just generic info about YouTube itself
