you know what #meshtastic doesn’t have? an option to block a node.

you can delete them from the list of seen nodes (they’ll pop right up again), you can hide alerts in the app, but if they want to be offensive/intrusive/problematic there is no way to not see it.

their node name(s), public posts, direct messages will all get through.

some people are just jerks.

put ‘new’ non-hp ink in the hp printer, perhaps for the last time. bought the ink a few years ago so if it craps out, new non-hp laser printer is on the shopping list.

for the first time ever, i managed to get ink on me and on the floor, somehow. it seems to have cleaned out of the carpet fine, but i’ll be yellow and black for several days

in 1994 i was earning approx $20k while this apartment we’re in was sold for 1.5x my income. then, something* happened and the price increased by 680% by 1997.

today, the property is ‘valued’ at nearly 30x its original price, 6.2x my current income, and hasn’t substantially changed since 1994. it still has the same blinds with 7 digit phone numbers of the installer.

if we want to replace them, the contract requires that we store the 30 year old crappy venetian-style blinds and reinstall them when we leave.

meanwhile, in my own hunt for gainful employment, I find I have to actually provide references for the first time in .. 15? years

previous employer is maybe a no-go, employer before that doesn't exist.

I know maybe 3 people well enough to ask for references, but they'll mostly be a request from 'out of the blue' as such.

this is what I get for not being a 'connector' I guess.

the apartment next door was up for auction on Saturday, but they don’t appear to have sold. no sold sticker, not reported in auction statistics (weird?), and the listing has been updated with new open for inspections and an ‘indicative price’ of $890k which seems weird as the previous price range was listed as $800-880k. two bedroom apartments in the area, which appear nicer and more recently updated, seem to sell for ~$600k (two last week). 50% extra bedrooms doesn’t equate to 50% extra total apartment, so maybe they’re expecting a bit much?

then again, its been a long time since realestate was what i would consider rational.

a recruiter wants to discuss a role with a minimum 2 days a week in office. hmm, ok. the office is 90+ minutes drive away, or 3 hours by public transport.. each way. maybe not? :welp:

does anyone have any experience with 3xAA battery packs as used in torches (k-pop light sticks..) and replacing them with some kind of high capacity dealy? (seems like a @Unixbigot kind of thing?)

the light sticks are quite sensitive to voltage, so most rechargeables drop below the threshold too quickly and make for grumpy fans at 3-4 hour events

i should probably jimmy up a variable voltage source and find exactly where the threshold is (eg maybe 3.6~3.7v lithium is enough, maybe 4.2v is minimum..)

how does autism affect me?

so Ponyo was released over 15 years ago, in which the ‘Haaaaaam!’ ramen scene shows putting other delicious things in with instant ramen noodles.

yes, i’ve finally felt ready to try this at home. i’ve thought about it most times i make noodles (several times a week), but it has taken 15 years to do it.

life happens too fast.

so at least if we’re going to have to pay that much we may as well move and get the added services. we should thank the rental agent for pointing them out? (from competing agencies) 😂

the protection granted by our old rental agent has expired and now the new one is putting the rent up.

14.5% increase.

mildly more fun is that the market value comparison properties all have lifts, pools, gyms, and event rooms while this place has stairs, a leaking 24yo hot water system, and early 80s features

resisting the impulse to buy an off-the-shelf 3d printer (sovol sv08) .. i have a 3d printer.. in parts.. that hasn’t worked right in over 5 years. the cost+tech has come a long way since i started this thing 7? years ago. declare bankruptcy, raid the existing thing for spares, and get a new one is very enticing, but more likely i have just have a recently completed savings goal burning a hole in my pocket 😬

spent several hours watching youtube videos of cars and car interiors to try and find the suitable shortlist of cars that will fit 5 adults and not cost $100,000. CarExpert guy has a great consistent review format including 2nd row seating.

also, car prices have gone up a lot in the 3 years since we last looked at cars 👎🏻
