Ah, the joys of getting old. After a kinda scary day and a half seeing arc flashes forming a semicircle (vitreous humor detachment, which can lead to retina detachment if too vigorous) in my right eye several times a minute, the flashes are mostly gone. But now I have the mother of all floaters constantly registering as movement (which isn't too bad otherwise, but will be a troublesome distraction at work).
But on the bright side, now I have a gold-plated reason to wear an eyepatch. Arrrr. ๐ ๐ดโโ ๏ธ

Dear Washingtonians,
A ballot is likely already in your mail for August 6 -- and you have a chance to vote for at least one, possibly two Green candidates.
With Washington's "first two" de-facto runoff system, voting your conscience against corrupt billionaire-owned politicians who have made our taxation one of the most RE-gressive (heaviest on lower incomes) systems in the country* will not get someone you hate elected.

Someone call the burn unit of this misogynist's local hospital. They're going to need to call in all their off-duty people just to keep him alive.

After the Flour Massacre and the horrifying death by self-immolation of an active-duty Air Force member whose conscience broke at what he was being asked to support (not to mention >12,000 children killed so far and the ongoing starvation of 2 million people), I can't not go. America is supplying the bombs being dropped on civilians en masse.
If you feel the same, I hope there's one in your city.

It finally crystallized for me, that I have a weird sort of religion (if you could call it that).
After decades of chasing after happiness (even at the cost of others' happiness), if I have one core tenet it's this: Above all, safeguard the happiness of others. Empower them to find their own.
And never, NEVER try to gain happiness that can only be had by taking it from someone else.
Funny thing is, I'm far more happy and at peace now than I was in all those years of chasing it. ๐
