I picture this as generally useful for purposes in which a little more weight is better than a dead battery. But, also, I can imagine vehicles or equipment in which it might take 30+ minutes to disassemble to a location where you could place this case, making it impossible to disable AirTag tracking on something expensive.

An intriguing concept from ElevationLab: a beautiful hack of an AirTag case that gives you an estimated 10 years between battery changes! My review at Macworld: https://www.macworld.com/article/2565766/elevation-lab-timecapsule-10-year-battery-case-review-everlasting-airtag-life.html

It’s not a department. It’s not funny. It’s not even legally constituted. And they will face incredible pushback from nearly every Republican member of Congress, because any cut they propose will impact one of their districts or states.
They do this because they think they can own the libs and dispirit people while experiencing the only kind of joy they can: at the expense of others.

Cryogenics likely won’t work in the foreseeable future. If you wanted a live backup running of humanity to restart it in the event of a catastrophe and had no ethics (or believed the survival of humanity should exceed all moral considerations), how would you do it?

Have made the decision to delete my Instagram account soon. I already ditched Facebook and Threads (both of which I was using minimally, really for promotion). Instagram hurts, because of all the Meta products, it remained a bright spot in connecting with friends of 40 years and friends of 4 months. But Big Tech ruins everything and I don’t want to be personally connected to Meta or Zuckerberg.

Extremely pleased to give a talk on Feb. 12, 2025 at 9 am PST, on how newspaper comics were given their color to the Color Studies group at the Consortium for History of Science, Technology and Medicine. These talks are free and not recorded. Sign up for access at https://www.chstm.org/group/color-studies
A chapter of my How Comics Were Made book on the Ben Day tinting process will be distributed as part of the talk.

The book was printed and is warehoused in Canada, so I’ll suspend sales after Tuesday for at least a week until it’s clear what or if tariffs from Canada->the U.S. area. I wouldn’t want a buyer to get stuck with a customs bill—nor to have unknown expenses to get the book to you.

I had a wonderful time talking to Geoff Grogan for his Blockhead podcast about the history of how comic strips were printed, drawn from my research for How Comics Were Made. Great questions, great personal experiences shared by him! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/glenn-fleishman-how-comics-were-made/id1440223132?i=1000683689985
