While I like my Mastodon home, They could really take some design tips from Sharkey. It's quick become my favorite protocol/spot on the fediverse.

By the time she reached the Port of New Orleans, a fellow passenger had taken a shine to her. He took her to an Ursuline convent to live, while he continued on to Northwest Louisiana to establish a farm.

He later returned to young Kate when she was of marrying age. They were wed, and she wound up keeping books for what would be the family farm.

So..yeah. That connection is important to me.

Connecting with my Irish heritage is a very personal thing for me. My great, great grandmother, Kate Murray, and her parents left Ireland on a coffin ship during the Famine. Her parents didn't survive the journey.

Mastodon.ie was the absolute 100% correct instance to relocate to.

I have had so many wonderful folks reach out and send resources to help me with my Irish language journey. My enthusiasm has been re-kindled.

Right now, I'm learning #Gaeilge via #Duolingo. It's what I can afford. I also have a couple of books: "First Steps in Irish" by the Christian Brothers, and "Step-By-Step Irish: An Irish Workbook for Beginners" by James Joyce.

I really liked the Bitesize Irish site, but again, money woes keep me from taking full advantage. Does anybody out there have any free/very cheap resources for learning the #Irish language? 🇮🇪
