It's possible I'm merging a few memories together. I'm not a fan of bombarding people with images of death (much like we see online these days) because it doesn't shock people and makes them numb to the reality of what they see.

But there are photos that will always stay with you. The piles of wedding rings are one of those images for me.

The belongings left behind. Lives never fully lived. They could be any of us if the winds changed even slightly. And they have been many of us.

I will never forget looking at a set of encyclopaedias that my nan had (I forget what they were, only that they were red) and there was one volume I was banned from looking at. I think it was 21 or 22.

Either way, that's the one that had all the wartime photos in it and ones from when they liberated the concentration camps. I'll never forget those images. Ever.

How anyone could is beyond me but that's why we need to continue remembering, for those no longer here to tell their stories.

Just a reminder of something I discovered recently on here - you can block keywords, phrases and hashtags. You can set them to not appear at all or to come up as hidden posts that you have to purposefully click/tap to expand.

Give it a go, if nothing else just to hide all of the awful so you can view stuff if and when you're ready to...or not at all.

It isn't cowardice, it's self care ❤️

A new year and a new me questioning whether I keep this account or not. I have a personal one on a different server which isn't under my real name and I don't talk much about Work Stuff.

Ah yes, my library roof has leaked some more and made some books not only mouldy but also infested with booklice/mites.

The marginalia (ooh fancy term) in our books sometimes amuses me and sometimes infuriates me when they make the actual text unreadable.

This one is definitely in the former camp.

Hey! I've just moved to glammr.us so hopefully this thing all works and here's an #introduction post!

I'm a librarian working in #highereducation in the UK and I specifically work with #archaeology and #socialanthropology folks.

I do lots of teaching and generally try to make my library services and support as accessible as possible.
