@hj Random question if you don't mind:
With Pleroma, is there an easy solution to the problem that I don't see replies to posts from people who aren't in my known network?
I'd prefer that when I open a post, my instance fetches all replies to it, including replies from people I've never interacted with before.
If there's no simple answer then feel free to ignore. :blobcat-googly-thumbsup:

I want a language that's similar to #Java but can be compiled natively.
[#]Go is under corporate control and has a weird obsession with static linking if I'm not mistaken, though this may be fine for certain applications... In fact, in Java you'll often create a "fat JAR" that contains all dependencies so... Still, something is off about Go's vibes. Yeah, I'm vibe-checking programming languages now. Sue me.

Got a legal letter from some lawyers working for Warner Bros today. No not joking. I sailed the high seas a bit too much, apparently.
No legal action, just a warning letter.
I guess it's onion time, if you know what I mean. :blobcat-smug:

[#]Trans activist India Willoughby (left) has amateurishly edited the shot on the left, to make Toby Young appear closer, insinuating that he tried to grab Willoughby's chest.
The image editing is so bad that you can still see Willoughby's blurry fingers in their original position from the original shot.
This is 100% unhinged behaviour. It would be advisable for #transgender activists to sort out the nutcases like this running their political movement.
It tends to be the same kinds of unhinged people who are the loudest in screaming slurs like #terf at feminists.

@jeffcliff BTW genuine question: Are you serious about the "pandemic is still ongoing" thing or is it to troll anti vaxxers and stuff?
Actually I just found this which is seems like a surprisingly high number of deaths for 2.5 months. But I've no frame of reference.

Atatürk was born 1881 and finished his formal education around 1900, though I guess he never stopped educating himself. It is said that he was an avid reader.
He founded the Turkish Republic in 1921 and immediately enacted sex equality; he was already deeply convinced by then that women should be equal under the law and in all aspects of life.
I wonder which feminists in particular he read. Who convinced him to become so adamant about this?
I also wonder if The Second Sex is going to mention him or Turkey. I've just finished Volume 1, Part 2, Chapter 4. Part 2 is about women's rights throughout all history, and chapter 5 is the last, so it should now talk about recent developments I guess. (The book was published 1949.)

I wonder if there's any #GNU/Linux or #BSD distribution out there that's relatively modern, stable, and well-maintained, and also not taken over by political nonsense?
It doesn't have to be purely free software, though that would be a plus.
Maybe #OpenBSD? I've used that before on a laptop (until ~10 years ago I think) and it was honestly OK, until my Firefox was so outdated I couldn't watch WebM that people began using in place of GIFs... OpenBSD doesn't seem to have a CoC, which is good.
[#]FreeBSD has a CoC but it seems acceptable, maybe. At least it lists "sex" alongside "gender identity" as two separate characteristics so it's not entirely brainrotten. It's the most popular BSD if I'm not mistaken, so may be interesting.
[#]NetBSD also always seemed quite interesting. Maybe I'll try that out for a change. Doesn't seem to have a CoC.
Other than that, #PureOS sounds like a good sensible fully free GNU/Linux-libre distro based on Debian so I might go with that I suppose. Can't find any CoC.
[#]Dragora is very interesting. It's been developed by one guy for years??? Not sure if it's gonna be as modern and well-maintained as some of the other options though.

Today I Learned: There is competitive "tag" matches. Not a joke.
https://www.worldchasetag.com/
As silly as the concept is, it looks really athletic and kinda exciting to watch. The matches are held in small areas (think like a boxing ring but bigger) with strategically placed obstacles like bars and such that you can parkour around to avoid your opponent. :blobcat-joy:

New battle station, with height-adjustable desk! :blobcat-aww3:
Just need to set up a second monitor. Hadn't bothered so far because one 4K 28" monitor is plenty already, but I've decided I could make good use of one.
