Pretty cool talk about #godot in production (6-month project, cRPG, vertical slice kinda thing).

What a vexing day! Tried to implement fancy collision avoidance for my NPCs (getting them to look ahead to see how close two characters will get and when), but didn't get it working to my satisfaction. The detection part is fine, I think, but I'll need to change how they react to the impending collision.

I'm so jealous of all the people posting their Godot plushies... Should've bought one!

The term 'AI' is already causing confusion, though! There's a lot of talk in the company about how/if/to what extend we should start using generative AI for various purposes, and I think some people have the impression that that's what I'm working on.

In reality, I'm using good old-fashioned behavior trees, no ML involved at all.

Two weeks since I started my new #gamedev job! I really like my new colleagues, I think the game concept is a lot of fun, and I'm enjoying the work itself.

So far I've laid out the basic structure of our NPC AI, designed our test level, and designed our stat system... Next week I'll be working on NPC vision and attacking.

I'm officially a professional #gamedev o.O

First day at my new job today, and for now it's a lot of setup, getting access to systems and such... But starting tomorrow I'll be working on the actual game, focusing on npc ai.

Very much enjoying the Tiny Glade demo, it's a very cute and well-polished game. It looks like the full game will have a lot more options for decorations, colors, and so on, plus much more space to build on.

Behold, programmer art!

I'm starting on a remake of a gamejam project from last year, and considering using this wireframe shader as the basis for the visuals. I'm not a great 3D artist, and I think this would let me focus on mechanics and gameplay while still ending up with a decently cool-looking game.

Very nice introductory talk by Andrea Jörgensen about tech art / shaders from Nordic Game Jam. I was at the jam, but missed this talk, so I'm glad it's on youtube now.

Think I found a decent way to make a sphere without ugly poles or seams. The texture gets mirrored around the equator, which I'm entirely ok with for my use case.

Me and four friends participated in #GMTK2024 and made this little object-finding game:

https://tayacan.itch.io/tiny-huge-world

The jam was 4 days, but not everyone could participate on all days (some people only 1 day). I believe this is the first 2D game I've made in #godot. All the sprites were hand-drawn on post-it notes. There's about a million minor collision / Z-level bugs, but nothing that makes the game unplayable as far as I know.

Hi, I'm new here!

Here's a little game I made over the summer holidays - roughly 3 week solo project using #godot, mostly focusing on procedural generation:
