RANT: What the heck does this

FREE OUR FEEDS actually want?

Time to look behind the 'billionaire proof social media' they claim they can bring us into.

It is rather a missed opprotunity for Free Our Feeds esp since ActivityPub is already adopted by a range of platforms that align with the decentralised and open social media ethos. ActivityPub has already achieved what "Free Our Feeds" aspires to, which is interoperability between platforms. While there are gaps in this (DIDs for example), I dont think that justifies sidelining ActivityPub in favour of expensive investment.

Im very easy to find outside of Mastodon doesn't mean you have to message me on Linkedin and ask why I unfollowed you.

There's nothing wrong with adding people on Linkedin. Hell, I even linked it here once or twice. No issues with that but messaging people to ask why they unfollowed you is textbook cringe af.

I got invited to an AI summit in Osaka to talk about my work in human rights. Though, from the looks of it, they will only be funding the ticket to the conference and not my flight and visa.

Been to Japan but never Osaka. We'll see if I ever get to go.
