@ashten @ChaosKitsune Heya. Have y'all heard any status update from the tech.lgbt mods/admins regarding the defederation thing?

I haven't heard anything myself, not even a reply to a polite DM. The deadline they announced back in December is getting close, so I'm worried I'll have to look for a third place that still federates with both sides.

Speaking of, would you happen to know of such a place? I'd like to avoid using multiple accounts.

Games with day-night cycles should also simulate the dark adaptation of human vision by brightening the view significantly after 2-8% of the cycle length.

Brought to you by me being annoyed that the screen is much too dark at night in Minecraft, and recalling that FF14 did that as well.

I wish Mastodon

• Allowed users to turn on/off HTML or other markup for individual posts, like it does for CWs, polls, federation, etc., instead of requiring hunting through the settings, saving the settings and then reloading the web interface, posting, and then doing it all again to turn it off.

• Showed a proper preview while writing a post so you can tell what's worng before posting and then having to edit. Especially needed when using markup (or -down) and unfamiliar emoji.

• Documented what HTML tags are accepted or not in an easy to find place (i.e. not the source code). Turns out that tt and small are not supported. (to save others the search, "p br span a del pre blockquote code b strong u i em ul ol li ruby rt rp" are allowed according to https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/47f0faebc9cb197ea7b4cf8d191df0a1ec926f59/lib/sanitize_ext/sanitize_config.rb)

• Supported BB Code. Quicker to type than HTML (without need for annoying br or p), easier to remember than markdown (ew, noone likes markdown).

So, I was thinking maybe the two of us had split at some time in the past, or I'd taken over from her. Then this morning I was realizing that maybe my bad memory and shifting of musical taste and interests (not all at the same time, just slowly) had something to do with being plural. You know, since that seems to be one of those things/clues that systems list as doing before figuring themselves out. Anyway, so Jackie and me just tried switching to see if she had better memory of things we/I did as a kid. Things that I could piece together, but only vaguely. And she could call up a lot more details more quickly, including visual impressions and stuff.

So yeah, maybe it's not quite "memory is only attached to front", but we also have some individual access to it, or not quite shared memories.

I mean, that would also explain why I can remember a handful of gender euphoria moments from my/our youth, but no real dysphoria until I/we found out I could be/become a girl.

Hints are building up that I (Kimiko) may not be the original possessor of this body.

A little over a week ago, when suddenly four new headmates introduced themselves, one of them introduced themself (or maybe was introduced by Ophelia, not sure) as '[deadname redacted]'. I was immediately like "no no no, this isn't happening, do not want", scared that their presence would mean I'd just been faking being trans, and other existential stress. They stayed quiet. After about a day I felt bad about rejecting them, but still couldn't quite accept it all. So I apologized and they understood where I was coming from, said they wanted to be a girl too. Relieved, I pointed out that inside, you can just be whatever we want to be, I mean, I'm a fox in here. And since then she's been a girl. At first she wanted the first version of my name, before I changed it to Kimiko, but that'd be kinda confusing, so then she picked Jackie, short for Jacqueline.

Some time ago (a decade?), it was "hmm, aren't there a lot of furries among the folks involved in digital infrastructure?", but nowadays it's like "everyone knows furries keep the internet running", as if the venn diagram of the two groups is a circle.

And now I wonder if this is going to be part of modern mythology.

Like, just like elves make the best archers, and dwarves the best smiths, if you want to get around online efficiently, you need to have at least one furry in your party.
