BBC's Doctor Who Classic channel has changed it's handle name, so the old links won't work.
Here's the current working link:

It's a strange mix of serials that they've decided to post so far.
If you are new to "Classic Who", I'd recommend checking out Genesis of the Daleks, or Day of the Daleks.
If you want to check out some under-rated serials, maybe check out Warriors of the Deep or Underworld.

Some fun backhanded Doctor Who commentary on those of us who took the show waaaaay too seriously. It's like:
Us: "It seems to be a rather interesting show about extraterrestrial life forms."
Normies: "Only rubber suits, you know. For children."

Doctor Who Snakedance has a fun little unnecessary scene:
https://youtu.be/cs-CgiSZ0rY?si=0CYdrOGvitp33yLV&t=5328
The Doctor helps Nyssa down a small step by holding her by her waist. She's like, "Thank you, that wasn't necessary." And even this boy who only just met them notices the ... uhh ... subtext, while The Doctor is just confused.
Earlier in the story, Nyssa tried (and failed) to get The Doctor to notice her new outfit.

Cold Warriors of the Deep
"There should have been another way"
Rewatching, I see Warriors of the Deep is a criminally underrated war tragedy.
The story is solid and moving ... it's about the insanity of the Cold War. Set on what's basically a Trident nuclear missile submarine, there are no mustache twirling villains or bumbling fools.

The official Doctor Who YouTube channel has posted the entire Genesis of the Daleks serial - one of the most highly regarded Classic Who stories.
If you want to see what the big deal is with Classic Who, it's a good example.

I haven't really been paying attention to news since I've been buried deep in some obtuse C64 coding, but I hear things are going very very badly for Assad.
I am happy about this. Screw Assad. As badly as possible.
That is all.
No, one more thing:
I'm okay with the entire health insurance industry not actually existing.

and movies.
But he simply did not make any connection to the movie 2001, which I expect he simply hasn't seen.
My point is:
Don't assume that everyone else is familiar with something you feel like everyone is familiar with. All of us have gaps in our cultural knowledge.

I was watching a YouTube video of a space sim gamer who decided to play every space sim before 1986.
He finally got to Elite, and was naturally frustrated at the infamously difficult docking sequence. Why is the opening rectangular and not square or circular? Why is it rotating? It's like that rotating docking sequence in Interstellar, but on purpose? Why?
He played various versions of Elite, including one which added music (The Blue Danube).
We're talking an earnest fan of space games

I had a fun discussion on 6502 code optimization, for a port of Elevator Action.
Basically, you have to look at loops in a different way, because a lot of things that are practically "for free" even on slightly more modern CPUs just ... aren't ... on a 6502.
Like, the intuitive idea of incrementing an address while looping. No, it's actually faster to keep X or Y index constant and precalculate different offsets. Weird.

You can have multiple layers, with each layer shown in perspective.

I cannot describe my level of sadness and trepidation over what we know is to come. No sliver of hope that it might not be so bad like in 2016. So many people who will die and suffer as a result, and not just within the USA.
And no hope of a future election that might help.
I have no eloquent words. I can't even call it despair.

I’m reposting old roguelike pixel art I did experimenting with a C64 graphics mode with double-width sprite underlay. Basically, each 8x8 tile could have three colors, but with various restrictions because the black sprite underlay only has a 4x8 resolution.
I actually prefer plain ASCII letters for roguelike monsters, but here I thought … how about letter-picture hybrids?

I was today years old when I realized the actual name of "One on One" was:
Julius Erving and Larry Bird Go One-on-One
And those of us who pirated the game have no excuse - it's right there scrolling along the bottom of the title screen.

Is there a way to make Mastodon posts appear with preview all the time?
Usually, there is no preview unless I click on the link (which makes the preview pointless) to decide whether or not to hit STAR and only AFTER I hit STAR does the preview show up.
It's absolutely bonkers UI that never made any sense whatsoever.
