Marković beschreibt in ihrem Buch die groteske Tristesse dieser Hauptstädte. Mit ihren Superheldinnen, die nicht wissen, wie sie ihre "hungrigen und nervösen Biographien" erklären sollen, aber dennoch ihr Leben meistern, gibt das Buch auf skurrile Weise Kraft und Mut, diese Groteske zu überleben, auch hat es eines der "bösensten aller Happy Ends".

"Superheldinnen" von Barbi Marković (2016)

Ich war total begeistert, als ich den Titel zum ersten Mal sah: Superheldinnen. Das klingt nach Frauenpower, genau das, was ich im Moment brauchte.

Und noch besser: Ich kenne alle Städte, die im Buch vorkommen – Berlin, Wien, Zagreb, Belgrad, Sarajevo.

Ik volg de Duitse verkiezingen (23 feb) en stuitte op de "Real O Mat". In plaats van te focussen op verkiezingsbeloftes, kijkt deze stemwijzer naar wat partijen daadwerkelijk hebben gedaan. Een slimme manier om de politiek te begrijpen.

What a change of perspective! The story of "1984" told by Julia and "Lolita" told by the now grown-up Dolores Haze instead of the paedophile Humbert Humbert.

• "Julia: A Novel" by Sandra Newman (org. in English, translated into Dutch, German...)

• "Bye Bye Lolita" by Lea Ruckpaul (German only)

Trigger warning: "Julia" is like "1984" very dystopian. "Bye bye Lolita" contains details of sexual abuse.

Terwijl sommige journalisten krampachtig proberen te ontkennen dat het werkelijk een Hitlergroet was, heeft het "Zentrum für Politische Schönheit" de inmiddels bekende foto van Musk op de gevel van de Tesla-fabriek in Duitsland geprojecteerd.

En wat denk je is gebeurd? Het Duitse Openbaar Ministerie overweegt een onderzoek naar dit "Zentrum" vanwege het verspreiden van verboden symbolen... Juist, de Hitlergroet van Musk!

Ik moet toegeven, normaal gesproken ben ik niet zo'n fan van banken, maar ik kan mijn enthousiasme niet verbergen over de beslissing van de Volksbank. Ze hebben de bankrekeningen van de extreemrechtse partij AfD in Düsseldorf opgezegd. Wat een goede stap!

Not only did I save money (€400 versus €3000 for a new e-bike!), but I'm riding again.

This isn't just about money - it's personal. After 2.5 years of not being able to cycle to work due to long covid and a broken e-bike, I'm finally able to do the 30km again.

Tomorrow I'll be cycling to work for the first time in years and I couldn't be more excited! 💪

Back on the Road! 🚴‍♂️🔋

Replacing the battery on my e-bike wasn't as easy as it sounds! My e-bike is a custom build and after 8 years the battery finally gave out.

The dealer no longer sells the conversion kit I used, but luckily I found a compatible battery.

It took me 1.5 days of drilling, tinkering and patience to get it just right, but the hard work paid off.
