Lovely Planet is the prime example of an emerging genre: the first-person cuter.

I'll see myself out.

Here, finally, are the three Japanese patents that Nintendo is accusing the Palworld creators of violating. Remember, these patents were filed AFTER Palworld was published.

I don't understand why there's all this un-skeptical excitement for UFO 50.

I'm glad I watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaNM3biswfA first. Made it clear to me that this game collection is not my speed. I'll give it a chance, but not until it's on deep discount.

What if Steam checkout was required by law to use the term "Get License" rather than "Buy" or "Purchase"? Because you're not really purchasing the content, you're just getting a license to use it.

And because of my (naive) faith in the Steam platform, for a long time it didn't really register with me that license can be taken away at any time. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/california-law-compels-digital-storefronts-to-inform-players-they-dont-own-their-games

I had wondered how Caravan SandWitch dealt with the van getting stuck, and now I know: I found myself wedged on a cliff wall, front bumper to the ground, wheels spinning uselessly in the air. After a couple seconds a prompt asked me if I'd like to return to Nefle's garage.

Not sure how the "stuck" detection works exactly. Would it get me out of a situation where the van was upright but I was blocked behind something?

I'm sure the OxenFree executable will always be available from various sources. But how will we be sure malware hasn't been added to it, if we don't have a known-good checksum from a reliable source?

I can't possibly be the first person to think of this. I figured the #GamePreservation types would be all over it.

Night School is pulling Oxenfree from itch.io, presumably on Netflix's orders. It's still on GOG for now, but this is one less DRM-free source for the game.

So it's alarming that even with this high-profile removal, no one seems to be recording checksums for the itch.io distribution. A Google search for this checksum isn't turning up any hits, anyway.

So I'M recording it, at least.

804 strokes at Hole 400. Sad to have lost all that progress, but the new Desert Golfing run is going pretty well so far! #IndieGame

"Two-fifths of parents say that on most days, β€œthey are so stressed they cannot function,” the Office of the Surgeon General reports in an advisory titled Parents Under Pressure."

Unregulated capitalism has removed all social safety nets. If you become a parent now, you're risking debilitating mental health or welfare issues for you, your kids, or both.

[#]IndieGame arcade shooter Utopia Must Fall is now in early access!

If you liked Command Raid on the Atari 2600 (where you control a single rotating turret at the bottom of the screen) you're really gonna like this. The Peglin-style powerup build mechanic is cool too.

I definitely enjoyed the Next Fest demo.

Oh, noo. That obnoxious voice acting in the Kitsune Tails trailer IS part of the game itself. (Sorry, but you're not getting Oscar-worthy voice actors on an indie studio's budget.)

Thankfully, you can restore a NES-like, all-text experience just by setting voice volume to 0% in the options. Much better; I don't think I'd have been able to continue playing otherwise!
