non-anthropocentric semiotics of writing (and cognition) as a place to start building a non-anthropocentric theory of everything?
maybe?

very good news about my album this week!
the first one is a great review by @etherdiver: https://www.etherdiver.com/2025/01/24/opm-experiments-soundtracks-and-synth-pop/.
the second one is that two tracks have been played in the last episode of Forgotten Futures on @audiointerface by @xylander: https://www.audiointerface.org/shows/forgotten-futures/20250125/.
many thanks to both of them, i am very happy that my album "la matière même du temps" is being appreciated.
the album is available on bandcamp and you can listen and download it for free: https://zavajer.bandcamp.com/album/la-mati-re-m-me-du-temps.

realizing it is like when, during meditation, your mind starts wondering and you become aware of that so you bring your focus back to breathing.
it's another step into awareness.
for sure, it is much more important to exchange about what my sounds evoke in who listens than to count stats & stars.
don't get me wrong: i am happy that people listen to my work, but i probably need to develop a slower, deeper approach to the response i get.
does it make sense?

I realized that after I published my album last week, I started looking too much at stats & numbers: plays, downloads, boosts...
but numbers do not tell the story - as I perfectly know (I am a bike traveler!).
so, how did this happen?
i think it was mainly because I absorbed the rhetoric of success and numbers pushed by neoliberal society and tech for such a long time that I still struggle to break free from all it implies, even if I am actively engaged against it and against big tech.

i would like to say a big thank you for your responses to the publication of my album: i really didn't expect so many positive reactions and so much interest.
i am really grateful, you have made me feel part of a community and i think that this is the nicest thing.
please, keep sending me comments and feedback, because this dialogue is important for me to learn and improve the work on my projects.
thank you! 🙂

everything is ready for the release of my first album and i'm really excited!
i'll just let 2024 slip away and publish it on january 3 2025.
my tracks won't be on big platforms and i won't share them on commercial social media. my sounds will thus travel just by word of mouth, which is fine.
some traces of impostor syndrome try to creep in here and there before publication, but I'm used to it, it's an old friend that I sometimes struggle to keep at a distance :)

my first record will be out january 3 2025.
it's called "la matière même du temps", and it is a short concept album, made of electronics and voices.
my work has a starting point in the book "De si violentes fatigues", by french researcher Romain Huet, who investigates the states of fatigue and depression so widespread in our societies, which are always blamed on the individual even if the causes are structural.
think of it as a collective scream.
existence is political, so is art.

the first round of producing and mixing by @m2m is done - well, he also played the bass on a few tracks (to my happiness!).
i am amazed and thrilled by how my work has been improved by his intervention and the fragments are now more powerful and coherent.
now it's time for some fine tuning, then mastering and then "la matière même du temps" will be ready to be published.
i still kind of find it hard to believe that i have made it all the way with this project.

the process of sounds taking (a better) shape is interesting.
a part from a couple of demos recorded more than twenty years ago, this is the first time my sounds go through a professional "treatment": co-production and mixing.
what @m2m is sending me in these days is making me even more curious about the final result.
it is also a process of listening and learning (and learning to listen).

this is the cover art for my upcoming album "la matière même du temps".
the collage has been created by lul, an artist and a friend. additional graphics are by Daris Diego Del Ciello.
i really think that it captures the spirit of the project and i really really like it.

with the help of 13 people who recorded their voices and sent them to me, i created 13 audio fragments, with soundscapes and rhythms built around every voice.
it's the first time ever i worked on something like this. with a diy and punkish attitude: urgency.
i wasn't even sure i could get to the end of the creation process, but i did, which made me happy and somehow proud.
as soon as the cover is ready i will share it here before releasing the album (no date yet, but coming really soon).

" la matière même du temps" will be my first album.
the album is based on the book "De si violentes fatigues. Les devenirs politiques de l'épuisement quotidien" by french researcher and writer Romain Huet.
the book talks about the feeling of being a failure, of being unable to keep the pace and adapt, of this fatigue that "has become the very matter of time".
i had the urgency to try and make these feelings something collective, something political. and i used voices and sounds to shape it.

all of the audio fragments for my project have been completed so now we enter the process of production, mixing and mastering.
i am really happy that this means the beginning of a new collaboration with @m2m who's going to take care of the sounds.
i am really looking forward to this and to publish my first "real" work.
i'll also be sharing some details about the project in the coming weeks, starting now with the title: "la matière même du temps" ("the very matter of time").
